Things that help me

Okay so I know some of you people out there on the interwebs are like I was a few months ago, lost and clueless about diet.  Well I have found a few things that help me with loosing weight and feeling good about myself without feeling like I am restricting myself down to like a bird size portion of food.

  • CRON-O-Meter (cronometer.com)
CRON-O-Meter is sort of like MyFitnessPal because it is a calorie counting/weight tracker website which gives you a very detailed and broken down concept of what you are putting into your body.  It helps you understand what you are getting vitamin and mineral wise and if you realize you are not getting enough of certain vitamins and minerals (aside from B12 which has to be supplemented on a vegan or low fat/cholesterol vegetarian lifestyle) then you can get a multi vitamin in order to sustain your levels in a healthy way.  Also when switching from an animal based diet to a plant basted diet you need to make sure you are getting enough calories so tracking calories to make sure your intake is high enough because if you eat to few calories you could possibly develop orthorexia, anorexia or bulimia because of the stress.  Just don't stress and meditate, all will be ok.

  • Youtube (youtube.com)
I use youtube as a motivational tool.  I will say do not, DO NOT believe everything you hear on youtube because anecdotal information isn't the best information because what happened for them will not always happen for you.  If you hear something then look it up through a reputable source (google will suffice because you can find actual information backed by science and not just personal experience).   If you want recipe options youtube is a very good place to look because you can get out of the box ideas which are really good despite being weird.

  • Netflix (netflix.com)
Yes I know not everyone has netflix but if you can watch the documentary Forks Over Knives then you should.  It is an amazing documentary based on science and backs up the people's experience in the documentary and watching it can give you a very good idea on where to begin with a vegan diet or a vegetarian (mostly vegan) diet.

I have learned a lot through research which I might be posting along the way.  I will probably be posting pictures of pretty much everything I eat to give you all options but I basically eat similar foods every day.  I do hope you have an amazing day!
